ASHES IN THE WIND -the story of Hannah Bergmann; a leading soloist with the renowned Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. But this is Germany in 1942 and Hannah Bergmann and her physician husband Ephraim Fischer are Jews. Following their arrest and transportation, she to Auschwitz and he to Thereisenstadt and exposed to the horror of mass genocide, their lives take vastly different paths. When they next meet, each has changed beyond recognition. For Hannah Bergmann, the war and the sheer horror she is forced to witness exposes her to an existence for which she is utterly unprepared. Exhorted by her husband to 'do whatever is necessary to survive', Ashes In The Wind recounts in graphic detail, her reaction to insuperable temptation posed by a Wehrmacht officer ...a man wearing the same uniform as that of other military personnel daily murdering thousands of her fellow Jews.
