Raymond Screws never became a national-class athlete. We read stories about athletes and their lives who were outstanding hall-of-farmers or pro-sport greats. But why not talk about someone good but not at the elite level? This story looks through the lens of a better-than-average athlete as he explores navigating life through athletics and mostly running. Raymond Screws was a good small college runner. Some lessons can be learned through victories and defeats in athletics and life. So, this is a story about running, competing, and life. And not from the mind of a great runner.
