Dresden

Dresden - until 1945 this name brought to mind the glory of a noble residential city, beautiful and opulent. Most of what was destroyed in the night-time bombing attacks is now largely irretrievable, but much remains, making the city one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany. Nowadays there are a wide variety of efforts to preserve the historic buildings and complexes.
