At the same time, this essential but unwanted labour force must accept the degraded working and employment conditions offered. This book will be of interest to students and scholars of the sociology of work and the platform economy. Sophie Bernard is a tenured Professor of sociology at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, France, specialising in the sociology of work and employment. She has been working on digital platforms for several years. She has published several books, which have received research awards and critical acclaim, as well as articles in peer-reviewed journals.
