Education and Gender

The book that is now being published aims to analyse gender relations and the challenges of diversity in the school environment. It starts from the premise that there is a historical and social relationship between the construction of culture and education, to the extent that education transmits values, norms and habits, but can also take a critical look at them. 'This is why debating, discussing and questioning gender, race, sexuality and class relations in the school environment is so important, as it allows us to work on diversity and break with exclusionary actions.' By analysing the history of education in Brazil, it was possible to help identify advances and setbacks, as well as to understand the meaning of current public education policies, especially with regard to the debate on diversity and gender; norms and challenges that affect gender equality and diversity in schools. - Prof Dr Marcelo Andrade Cattoni de Oliveira - (UFMG).
