Gypsy Writer on the Run is something new and different from the pen of longtime magazine editor and writer Ira Black. This memoir, spiked with photos, recalls his own often fascinating life story as revealed by an eclectic smorgasbord of personal memories, favorite columns, philosophies, anecdotes and recollections by other contemporary friends and wordsmiths. It follows Black's life as he journeys from Appalachia to New York City to suburban Philadelphia, waylaid by encounters as a paratrooper, combat tours in the Dominican Republic and Vietnam, some weird and diverse publishing projects, and hair-raising rides with outlaw motorcycle clubs in Arizona.
