Intertextual communication in Nichetti's Soap Thieves

Maurizio Nichetti's Soap Thieves is an intertextual construct.The filmmaker proposes a dialogue between the past and the present by returning to Vittorio de Sica's Bicycle Thieves. Nichetti's work, which takes place on different narrative levels, has a lot to teach us about pastiche, playful parody, comedy, as well as the worlds of cinema and advertising. It's a beautiful piece of work, both because it makes us laugh and because it moves us, and because it gives us a broader and more elaborate understanding of the concept of intertextuality.
