Jets

With his camera Thomas Florschuetz (* in 1957) peruses the airplanes' surface attracted by their haptic and morphologic quality. Textures, lines, juxtaposing color planes, light deflections, and absorptions are explored in all their visual richness, so as to convey the immediacy of the act of looking. By concentrating on details, magnifying the scale, and reiterating the subjects from different angles, the jets assume an abstract feature, which Florschuetz edits as if he were composing a painting. The once fatal war-machines lined up in orderly ranks in the Sonoran Desert, Arizona, are thus mutated into something more akin to paleontological remains, whose signs of transience such as scratches and patina undermine the quest for technological supremacy.nnThomas Florsch?tz (*1957) erforscht mit seiner Kamera die Oberfl?che von Kampfjets, angezogen durch ihre haptische und morphologische Qualit?t.
