Bol Partner The artistic work of Renate Kordon comprises a polymorphous spectrum of techniques and media that can hardly be defined in terms of common style concepts. It includes drawings as well as satirical comics and psychogrammatical picture and object series, animated films and interventions in public space. "Lebenslinien" (Lifelines) offers the first synopsis of her work, which has developed over a number of decades and has always been influenced by the conflict between what is rational/objective, the surreal/subjective, the material and the spiritual as well as the shift of what is real on the surface and the alternative reality of intellectual and emotional states. This volume takes on the theme of these contexts and relations and includes many hitherto unpublished comics, storyboards, work models and photo documents. In this way, an oeuvre that belongs to the international avant-garde in the fields of experimental animation and spatial installations, yet has long been perceived as scattered across many disciplines, is finally given a unifying exploration, rendering and positioning.
