Bol "This series of letters from Sgt. Scotty, written during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006, provides a heartfelt glimpse into the daily realities and emotional struggles of deployment in Iraq. The letters touch on the relentless heat, unpredictable weather, camaraderie among soldiers, and the pain of losing fellow comrades. Scotty reflects on the importance of family, the longing for home, and the value of small moments with loved ones, while expressing gratitude for mail and support from home. The writing highlights themes of resilience, life's unpredictability, and the importance of valuing relationships. This book is a tribute to courage, sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to duty. It reflects the unseen battles fought within, the moments of introspection amidst the chaos, and the profound comradeship that sees you through. May the glint of stars above, the whispers of the past, and the call of duty forever guide your path. I served in the Marines from 1977 till 1981 and was discharged. After many years I re-enlisted After 911. I joined the Minnesota National Guard (34th Red Bull) In 2005 the unit was called up for a tour of duty in Iraq. This book is about my time I spent in Iraq from February 2006 to February 2007. I was a sergeant in the Army, and my job was in the military police. The military Police go by MPs. Some of us thought it meant Multipurpose. We did all the jobs that they gave us.This book is a memory of all the letters I wrote and sent home to my family and friends. This is for the paternal longing that tugs at the heartstrings, the silent prayers for well-being, and the precious treasures found within handwritten letters home. Something that helps family is hearing from their soldiers that deploy holding the fragile peace together from afar.
