Bol Many years ago, I worked as a mental health counselor and a priest in Orleans Parish Jail. In my experience with jail ministry as a priest and counselor, I witnessed firsthand the near-total destruction of men, particularly black men. Over 90 percent of the black men I encountered struggled with mental health and substance use issues. Many felt hopeless and helpless. One day, as I was reading the book of Genesis and reflecting on my experiences, I came across Genesis 3:9, where God asked a profound question: "Adam, where art thou?" This simple yet profound question prompted deep thoughts and reflection.Through divine inspiration, God revealed to me that the Black man is the most endangered species on earth. Drugs and alcohol are not the problem of the Black man, but a poisoned mind that has kept him down for generations. The Black man has incredible potential, but the enemy has vowed to keep him a perpetual enslaved person; however, he can be restored.God revealed to me some secrets in the book of Genesis that can help the Black man flourish again. Although this reflection is written for black men dealing with mental health and substance use issues, it may also be helpful for anyone in need of divine healing and restoration.
