Science Disclosure Texts in Biology Lessons

Knowledge of and participation in scientific culture are essential conditions for exercising citizenship in our society, and reading is an essential tool. The use of science communication texts (SDTs) in formal education can promote students' interest in reading and at the same time give them access to events and controversies in science and technology, as well as enabling them to master concepts and forms of argumentation and elements of scientific terminology. This book deals with aspects related to argumentation in the teaching of biology in basic education, using the reading and analysis of DCTs as a didactic strategy.
