The Outhouse Poet

Frances Kakugawa, an educator, eldercare consultant and the award-winning author of nineteen books, grew up in a rural Hawaiian village, in a rustic home with an outhouse complete with Sears Roebuck catalogs. In The Outhouse Poet she recounts how she later discovered a more modern "outhouse," with kindred spirits instead of catalogs to inspire a writer's soul-the local shopping mall. Fueled by her fellow mall rats' stories and gestures of kindness, Kakugawa has compiled an anthology of poetry and prose reflecting on themes old, new and eternal.
