Among the characters are three women who became widows and raised their children under adverse and challenging circumstances but never received the recognition they deserved.The book also depicts village life in the early and mid-nineteenth century, portraying it as a vibrant society. It explores behavior patterns, contradictions, and personal differences within a joint family, along with the solutions adopted to maintain harmonious relationships among its members.Additionally, it offers a glimpse into the workings of the Indian Air Force during the late nineteenth century through the eyes of a young Air Force officer.
