Jack meets Vatani the lion and finds the courage to conquer his fears. Inspired by the real life story of Dan Fastuca and his beloved lion Vatani. Dan writes of the real Vatani: "When I first met Vatani as a young cub, he was being bred in captivity to be utilized as an animal ambassador at a public conservation center. However it became clear quite quickly that this beautiful, young lion was probably not the best choice for this role. Even at 5 weeks, Vatani exhibited inordinate self-confidence, unwavering fearlessness and an independent spirit. These traits, although admirable in many circumstances, did not bode well for Vatani finding his "forever home" and living a happy, healthy life. And so I realized there was only one clear choice. I must raise Vatani myself. Since I had worked with Apex predators for over 20 years prior, I knew (or thought I knew) I was prepared to take on this daunting challenge.
