In 'Bulldog Drummond's Bride' a robbery in London prevents the marriage of Bulldog Drummond. In 'Bulldog Drummond Escapes' (1937) Ray Milland takes the title role, meeting Phyllis (Heather Angel) for the first time as Bulldog seeks to rescue her from her grasping family. 'Bulldog Drummond Comes Back' (1937) sees the adventurer, played this time by John Howard, racing to rescue Phyllis from the clutches of two continental villains, assisted by John Barrymore's Colonel Neilson of Scotland Yard. In the final film, 'Bulldog Drummond's Bride' (1939), marriage to Phyllis seems inevitable, until the pair are embroiled in a spate of bank robberies that are sweeping Paris.
