A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF THE EARLY SETTLEMENTS ALONG THE SHORES OF SKILLING'S RIVER, chronicled the early days of what is now Hancock, Maine. In 1879, Thomas Foss (1800-1889) penned a pamphlet sharing details of the early settlers of the area, as well as events, anecdotes, and memories, for future generations. Stories stretching back to the early days of the American Revolution relate the character of those who settled the area. Due to the age and condition of the original printed material, a full transcription has been include alongside the images of the original pages.
