Bol In this study, we assessed a number of physical and hydrological characteristics of the Manionzi River catchment over a specific period. In addition to conventional observations and measurements of these characteristics, increasingly sophisticated and accessible tools are now available in the field of remote sensing. Satellite imagery offers a major advantage over traditional observations and measurements, as it provides a direct, spatialised view of a phenomenon. With regard to water quality, water samples were collected twice weekly at an upstream location (the source) and at the river's mouth. Analyses of a number of physico-chemical parameters were carried out on these samples. The results of these analyses provided an indication of water quality: the water of the River Manionzi is not yet subject to pollution from any source. However, this initial study of the river's hydrological behaviour has shown that the Manionzi catchment is a vulnerable area in terms of water resources.
