A General Introduction to the Study of Private Law

The word 'law', from the Latin 'jus' or 'juris', is of interest to everyone, and particularly to lawyers, sociologists and political scientists, and is thus divided into numerous disciplines. Its application is relevant to the professional lives of judges and lawyers as well as businesspeople, to the extent that it is constantly at play in everyday activities, whether we like it or not. It follows that the Law dominates the organisation of an individual's personal and collective life, both in relation to themselves and in relation to others and the various societies of which they form part; it therefore constitutes a vast, everyday and essential aspect of the life of people living in society. This is what gives it its enduring nature. Furthermore, it should be noted that few attitudes and issues in human life escape the reach of the law. Indeed, the law tends to permeate every aspect of social relations. This is what gives it its ubiquitous nature.
