A Great Light On the Way of Love: Story Jesus Anointed

Jesus was a radical non-violent activist who traveled around the countryside teaching and helping the poor, oppressed, and marginalized. He held a deep compassion for those victimized by the Roman occupation of ancient Israel and, building upon his Jewish faith, invited the people into a new way of life as an alternative to what they knew under Rome. While empire created division and fear through violence and threats so the elite could control the masses in the pursuit of power and wealth, Jesus offered the masses love, hope, peace, and joy in the pursuit of justice and liberation through supportive community. He offered a way of life that would not only help people survive their daily struggles with empire, but also help them build something new and better. It's time to recover the good news of Jesus' life and teachings so they will continue to be a light in the darkness, a renewed source of hope and love for our modern day. This is the thought-provoking story of Jesus' life and teachings proclaimed for a modern audience as a helpful companion on the spiritual journey. It's meant to complement, not replace, the Biblical Gospels we know and love.
