Bol An original study of the lives and times of a group of inspirational Worcestershire people who would otherwise be forgotten, A Worcestershire Parish at War is a unique and intimate portrait of ordinary people Ellen and Walter Gibbs, along with their family, friends, and local community. Mollie Carney describes their day-to-day struggles during the period 1914-19 as their young men went to fight and either came back changed or not at all. Mollie Carney's new book offers surprising revelations about prevailing attitudes to Church and State, and allows us to experience the emotional highs and lows of the common man during one of the darkest periods in our history. It also offers us hope for the future - the book considers how much the human spirit can bear and how any one of us can, with grit and determination, overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
