Ààlọ́ oo! 2: Vestiges of the Cherished Yorùbá Oral Art

Many years ago, particularly in the immediate past, children used to look forward to spending festive and school holiday periods in the villages with their grandparents, who provided a traditional environment for the thriving growth of education in culture and entertainment through folklore. These nostalgic and occasional visits were always accompanied by storytelling when folktales were generously shared to the delight and inquisitive minds of the youths from the cities. Suddenly, priorities changed, and these fun times are no longer the reasons why village visits are enticing and attractive. The fading impact of Àlọ́ on the culture remains very significant. Contests between social media and folktales weaken the enthusiasm to engage and transform Àlọ́ into its possible postmodern structures. However, to bring back some of the residues of that era of social edutainment, Ààlọ́...oo2 takes folktales into the classrooms and even explores an intercultural assemblage of ideas about "Kultur" and how much Àlọ́ means in other tribes.
