Abstraction

This catalogue is published on the occasion of the exhibition organised by the Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts in collaboration with IVAM Valencia. Curator is the New York based Argentinian artist and historian C?sar Paternosto. The show and book offer a new approach of the history of 20th century abstract art, tracing abstraction?s traditional (precolumbian) roots. Illustrations of precolumbian art (mostly textiles) and works by Paul Klee, Barnett Newman, Josef and Anni Albers, Joaquin Torres Garcia, among others. Essays by C?sar Paternosto, Lucy Lippard, Mary Frame, Valentin Ferdinan and Cecilia de Torres.
