Advances in Molecular Microbiology, Genetics, and Bioinformatics of Multiple-Drug-Resistant Bacteria Public Health

This Reprint brings together a collection of research articles from the Special Issue "Advances in Molecular Microbiology, Genetics, and Bioinformatics of Multiple Drug-Resistant Bacteria in Public Health", highlighting recent progress in the genomic and molecular investigation of antimicrobial resistance. The contributions included exploring multidrug-resistant bacteria across clinical, food, animal, and environmental contexts, emphasizing the role of whole genome sequencing, comparative genomics, and molecular epidemiology in understanding resistance mechanisms and pathogen dissemination.The studies provide insights into the genetic basis of antimicrobial resistance, virulence, and bacterial adaptation, as well as the role of commensal and environmental microorganisms as reservoirs of resistance genes. In addition, emerging approaches for controlling multidrug-resistant pathogens, including alternative antimicrobial strategies, are discussed. Collectively, this Reprint illustrates the importance of integrating molecular microbiology, genomics, and bioinformatics to support surveillance, risk assessment, and public health interventions within a One Health framework.
