Though the characters may not know it, they play parts in other people's plans also. A story about how a plan made can reach ten to twenty years into the future without completion while others are added to it. It started out with an idea, build robots that can build robots. The prototype was rough and the artificial intelligence sharp to a point, but its thirst for knowledge and understanding led it to require continuous upgrades that no longer required human decision making. As the improvements surpassed human skill, all they could do was study it and watch it grow.
