Aganju; Santeria and the Orisha of Volcano & Wilderness

Aganjú Santería and the Orisha of the Volcano and Wilderness by Raúl Cañizares explores the fierce, untamed power of Aganjú - the Orisha of volcanoes, deserts, wilderness, and the deep, fiery core of the earth. Cañizares presents Aganjú as both a primordial force and a wise guide: the ferryman who carries souls across the river between worlds, the rugged teacher who shows that strength is forged through adversity, and the embodiment of endurance, resilience, and raw elemental fire. Drawing from Lukumí/Santería tradition, the book highlights Aganjú's role as a mediator, a protector of travelers and laborers, and a spiritual presence who helps practitioners navigate difficult terrain - both physical and spiritual. It serves as an accessible introduction to one of the most powerful and ancient Orishas, revealing how Aganjú's energy inspires courage, transformation, and the ability to overcome life's greatest obstacles.
