Seaweed has long been used in traditional phytotherapy around the world, and particularly polysaccharide-enriched extracts represent a very interesting class of active products, and are identified as multifunctional compounds, with several pharmacological activities, including immunostimulant, immunomodulatory and antitumoral effects. However, their value is largely unknown, due to their classification as inferior plants compared to the higher plants that are terrestrial plants. The aim of this study was to identify the planktonic and benthic algal biomass in the water reservoir of the Université Jean Lorougnon Guédé in Daloa (Côte d'Ivoire), which feeds the university's fish ponds, and the molecules of interest they contain, while also identifying algae with medicinal potential that could be exploited. Phytoplanktonic and phytobenthic samples were collected regularly from February 24 to March 05, 2025, with a replicate during the period from July 07 to 16, 2025 at the sampling point on the Universe reservoir.
