Bol In December 1989, eighteen-year-old David Aaron Greenberg drove down the New Jersey Turnpike with a copy of Howl in his lap and an ache in his chest he couldn't yet name. That night at a downtown dive bar in the East Village, he saw Allen Ginsberg perform for the first time, and nothing was ever the same. What followed was years of genuine connection, a friendship that wound through New York City's literary underground, late nights, exchanged manuscripts, and the particular intimacy of a young poet finding his footing beside one of the twentieth century's most celebrated poets.Published on the occasion of Allen Ginsberg's 100th birthday, Allen Ginsberg & Company is a memoir about devotion, influence, and the long work of becoming an artist, capturing a New York that no longer exists and a poet who still haunts the American imagination.
