The American Civil War Stereoviews MILITARY ACTION #2 Drewry's Bluff to Petersburg book is designed to promote and preserve American history by presenting to the reader a vast and comprehensive array of more than 320 original time period photographs. All photographs compiled here are shown in their original format of the hard-to-find and highly collectible stereoview cards, also known as stereograph or stereoscope cards. These cards were designed to actually create the illusion of a three-dimensional (3D) view of the subject pictured when viewed through a special stereoscopic viewing device. The great historic value of each of the photographs and negatives shown here is readily apparent. A visual documentation from a time in our history provides the reader the opportunity to view a wide variety of photographs accurately capturing moments of actual history. Social norms of the period include everyday activities, camp life, clothing styles, living conditions, vessels, construction styles, towns, soldiers, civilians, battlefields, forts and more from daily life. Most of the scenes depicted have long since vanished forever.
