Each poem in this book is, in essence, a story or anecdote grounded in truth and real events. However, it would be incorrect to treat these poems as historical records. In every piece, imagination has been woven so seamlessly with reality that the line between the two becomes almost indistinguishable. Most of the poems are written in the first person, yet they are not autobiographical. The poet has carefully observed and deeply felt the fast-moving life unfolding around her, and has transformed those experiences and emotions into honest, evocative poetry.
