AND IF I TELL YOU If I speak out, will it help? Will we keep pouring money into broken systems that harm children, or simply give up? Are you tired of trying to create change, convinced the job isn't worth the effort? Perhaps you ignore the problem, as long as it doesn't affect you. Meanwhile, children are trapped in cycles of violence, poverty, and ignorance, while we invest millions in prisons but little in education. Is "separate but equal" still alive in America, where opportunities are denied and lives are wasted? Will you stand by as bright minds are lost to violence and drugs, their lives cut short, or as children wield real guns bought too easily? Does it comfort you to provide welfare checks to single mothers, thinking you've done enough? We claim to be "our brother's keeper," but do we truly care? I ask this as someone who's lived through exclusion, wonder-ing why we can't do better for our children. Why haven't we found better ways to support them? BEVERLEY CLARKSON
