Bol Vikram , a fifty-year-old Swedish-Indian cloud engineer, and Anna Marstrom, his forty-six-year-old physiotherapist best friend of twenty-two years, set off on a three-week trek through Nepal's Annapurna Sanctuary in August 2026. Guided by Ram and porter Kishen, their journey through Kathmandu, Pokhara, and the high mountain trail toward Annapurna Base Camp is beautiful, grueling, and increasingly haunted. One by one they become trailed by three restless spirits born of real Himalayan tragedies: a woman lost in a 2014 blizzard, a drowned Masan tied to the region's flash floods, and a vengeful Bagh-Bhoot tiger-ghost. A jhankri's blessing and a near-fatal glacial flood mark their harrowing descent, after which they abandon a planned side trek and retreat to Pokhara to recover - only to find the accumulated fear cracking open twenty-two years of unspoken feeling between them. The final leg takes them to Chitwan's jungles, where a Tharu shaman helps them finally confront and release the last of the spirits. Along the way, a single, fleeting Yeti sighting near a remote ravine adds one more brush with the unexplained. It's a story about ordinary courage, old friendship becoming something more, and the way grief and beauty share the same ground in the Himalayas. The novel closes on a lingering, ambiguous note that suggests not everything followed them home was left behind.
