In 2008, an authorized prequel, Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson[7] was published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the series.[6]The book has been adapted as films, television film, and animated and live-action television series. Musicals and plays have also been created, with productions annually in Canada, Europe, and Japan.
