Anticipatory Guidance in Pediatric Dentistry

Anticipatory guidance is the process of providing information about the youngsters to their parents by alerting them to impending changes, teaching them their role in maximizing their children's developmental potential, and identifying their children's special needs.Anticipatory Guidance (AG) is an effective, prospective, chronologically based counselling approach, which educates parents about the upcoming dental needs at different development phases of their children. The anticipatory guidance is relatively new in dentistry and is described as a consultancy technique which discusses children's needs at a particular stage of life. This education guides parents by alerting them to impending change, teaching them their role in maximizing their children's developmental potential and identifying their children's special need.
