APEX: Something Worse: 1

Gideon Matthews has spent ten years waiting to die. A convicted serial killer sentenced to death, he has never claimed to be innocent. He knows what he did. He knows why he did it. And he knows exactly where his choices were supposed to lead. Then, shortly before his sentence can be carried out, everything changes. Officials Gideon has never seen before arrive at the prison. They aren't there to question him. They aren't there to save him. And they don't give him a choice. Gideon is removed from death row under extraordinary security and taken somewhere that officially doesn't exist. No one will tell him why he has been selected. No one will tell him what is waiting for him. But Gideon Matthews is about to discover that the world has been keeping secrets. Some of them were never meant to be uncovered. And some things are far more dangerous than the convicted serial killer they just took off death row.
