Bol The ability to name objects is an important predictor of oral and written language acquisition, as well as language deterioration observed in lesions acquired through trauma, stroke, neuroinfectious conditions, and neurodegenerative diseases. The objective of this research was to construct an instrument for assessing Picture Naming in children, following criteria of familiarity and frequency of items in Brazilian culture. For construct validity, principal component analysis (PCA) was performed, resulting in the extraction of seven main factors. The test also showed positive correlations with the Nonverbal Intelligence Test for Children (TNVRI) and the Verbal Fluency Test (FAS). The accuracy and internal consistency of the items were assessed using Cronbach's Alpha and Guttman's Lambda, which achieved very good coefficients ranging from 0.823 to 0.906 in four of the six factors. The instrument applied to a clinical sample discriminated between subjects without clinical complaints and those with Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyslexia. These results provided evidence of the validity of the TNF-C in terms of construct and internal structure.
