"Arriving at the Cathedral" is our work because I have always travelled, because sometimes I run from what I find mundane into the magic of the landscape. Be that a big trip or a journey out into my garden on a rainy day, these experiences never fail to transform my mind into a wonderful and at times not-so-wonderful reality.The Australian landscape of course is closest to my heart because it is where I call home. It is closest to my heart because every time I venture out into this most unique cathedral, I find another room I didn't know was there. In these magical rooms I call my poetry, I start to explore, turning over another leaf and experiencing space and time in a colourful kaleidoscope. Not only finding what is seen but expressing feelings that are unseen, shining a big light on moment.The Cathedral was a big trip. I held Tim Winton's novels with me so I could stay anchored and wizened as I was almost completely absorbed by this tapestry in real time.From fear and delight, to overwhelm, (particularly the west coast) not only was this poetry collection another room, it became another galaxy...
