This study aims to identify and quantify, in the surface marine sediment of the Gulf of Annaba and specifically at the six survey stations (Station 1: Ainachir; Station 2: Bélvedre; Station 3: La Caroube; Station 4: Levet De L'aurore; Station 5: Draouèche; Station 6: Lehneya), in the marine surface sediments of the Gulf of Annaba, specifically at the six investigation stations (Station 1: Ainachir; Station 2: Belvedere; Station 3: La Caroube; Station 4: Levet De L'aurore; Station 5: Draouèche; Station 6: Lehneya). The results obtained following the calculation of the contamination index indicate Mn contamination at the Lacaroube (Class 3, i.e. risk zone) and Belveder (Class 2, i.e. polluted zone) stations, and Cd contamination at all stations (polluted zone); the other stations are classified as normal zones with regard to Zn, Cu, Cr and Ni concentrations.
