Prenatal care is essential for maternal and neonatal health. It allows for monitoring of the pregnancy, prevention of complications, and preparation for a safe delivery. Despite WHO recommendations, many women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo do not receive adequate prenatal care. This book analyzes the main barriers to accessing prenatal care in the DRC. It highlights the individual, family, sociocultural, and economic factors that limit access to care. It also examines the shortcomings of the health care system, particularly the lack of qualified personnel, equipment, and infrastructure. The book highlights the consequences of these challenges on maternal and neonatal health and proposes strategies tailored to the Congolese context to improve access to, the quality of, and the utilization of prenatal services. It serves as a valuable resource for researchers, health professionals, and policymakers.
