The book traces two decades of Gabriele Basilico’s (1944–2013) photographic research on urban centres, suburbs, and layered cityscapes, presented exclusively through colour photographs. One of the leading figures in contemporary photography, Basilico consistently explored the urban environment throughout his career. From his hometown of Milan to cities across Italy and around the world, the metropolis was always at the heart of Gabriele Basilico’s documentary photography. Featuring an introduction by Filippo Maggia and critical essays by Vincenzo Castella and Angela Vettese, this is the first monograph devoted exclusively to the photographer’s colour work. Text in English and Italian.
