1946. Communist Zabawa arrives at a wood transport base situated in the Bieszczady Mountains. His mission is to keep the demoralized crew on site at all costs. However, this is not easy - each and every day the drivers risk their lives due to the poor condition of the cars they drive. Zabawa also brings his wife Wanda to the base, but she wants to return to the city as quickly as possible. This adaptation of Marek Hłasko's novel was shot with a star cast. The film, too pessimistic for the communist authorities, faced serious problems with the censorship. Digitally restored film.
