Becoming a Berean: Testing Tradition by the Word of God

Can centuries of tradition stand the test of Scripture? The Bereans were called "more noble" because they refused to accept even the Apostle Paul's teaching without first searching the Scriptures to see if it was true (Acts 17:11). Their example remains just as relevant today. In Becoming a Berean, Timothy Reasoner invites readers to examine some of the most significant doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church-not through debate or tradition, but through the authority of God's Word. Each chapter begins by accurately presenting official Roman Catholic teaching before carefully comparing it with the clear teaching of Scripture. Rather than asking readers to accept the author's conclusions, this book repeatedly returns to one life-changing question: "Where does the Bible clearly teach this?"Inside you'll explore: - Does Jesus establish the papacy in Scripture?- Is the Bible alone our final authority, or should tradition stand alongside it?- Are we justified by faith alone, or by faith plus works?- What do the Scriptures teach about the sacraments, confession, and purgatory?- Should Christians pray to Mary or the saints?- Is the Mass a continual sacrifice or a memorial of Christ's finished work?- How can we recognize the true gospel and guard against false teaching? This book is not written to attack Roman Catholics or to win theological arguments. It is written to encourage every believer to become a Berean-someone who loves God enough to search His Word with humility, honesty, and a desire for truth.Whether you come from a Roman Catholic background, a Protestant church, or are simply seeking biblical answers, Becoming a Berean will help you examine your beliefs in the light of Scripture and deepen your confidence in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
