BEHIND THE LIGHTS AT MOONGATE

Every story begins with a question. Sometimes it grows from an almost invisible detail, a word spoken with hesitation or an object that appears to be in the wrong place. In this novel, everything takes shape while music drowns out voices, lights conceal faces and a disappearance forces Lieutenant Colonel Silvio Colangelo to look beyond appearances. The reader is drawn into an investigation shaped by intuition, silence, fear and human bonds. Behind the rhythm of the nights at Moongate lies a world in which nothing is quite what it seems and every person holds part of the truth. For Silvio, this is not merely a case to solve: it means protecting young people, understanding those who are afraid to speak and deciding, once again, how far duty may enter his own life and the life of his family. The story, characters and events in this novel are entirely fictional. All personal names, surnames, nicknames, businesses, venues, companies and organisations are invented and used solely for narrative purposes. Any references to real cities, towns, territories, roads, hospitals, public offices, State bodies or institutions serve only to give the story a recognisable and credible setting. They are not intended to describe actual events or attribute conduct, responsibility or connections to any person, administration or business operating in the places mentioned. Investigative, judicial and medical procedures have likewise been adapted to the needs of the story and are not intended as a technical or documentary representation of institutional practice. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, actual events or existing businesses is entirely coincidental. These pages belong to fiction. The emotions that run through them-fear, courage, friendship, love and the need for truth-belong to us all.
