Between Moments: 2

Lucas has figured out the orb. Theoretically. The artifact in his hand answers to rhythm and clicks, which means he's no longer hurtling blindly through the centuries. Instead, he's making deliberate, calculated mistakes.History remains thoroughly unimpressed. Lucas still drops into the worst possible rooms at the worst possible seconds, ducking falling debris in a blitzed London night, dodging chariots, and washing up near a luminous fleet off the East African coast. Armed with his trusty orange hoodie and an instinct for ducking, he's getting better at staying alive. The trouble is, learning to steer means deciding when to jump. And Lucas is sick to death of being the guy who vanishes. Every time he shares a meal with a stranger or lets himself care about someone who treats him like family, the orb pulls him away.Meanwhile, the man in the faded baseball cap is no longer just lurking in the shadows; he's speaking up. Ancient elders speak about the artifact like a living legend, and Lucas is forced to face an uncomfortable truth: getting back to his own couch might have been the easiest part of the journey. The orb isn't just a compass; it's trying to show him something he's been running too fast to see.Between Moments is the second book in this series, following Between Things.
