In Beyond the Mist, Peter O'Connor explores the world of Irish mythology and its relevance today in helping to account for the mysteries, unknowns and vicissitudes of life.It introduces the rich world of Irish mythology beginning with an introduction to the Irish pantheon which includes such figures as the gods Dagda, Lugh, Oenghus and Manannan Mac Lir and the goddesses Morrigan Anu and the Machas whose stories comprise the Mythological Cycle, the first cycle of Irish mythology. From the Fenian and Ulster Cycles, the heroic stories of Cu Chulainn and Finn MacCumhaill, among others, are told.Peter O'Connor explores the various divine and other figures, including the mystical Irish otherworld, as symbolic aspects of the individual psyche and the unconscious mind. The myths are seen as providing insights into repressed aspects of our inner life at the same time suggesting appropriate ways of relating to and integrating these qualities.
