Beyond The Rules

Dr. Lexie Cross has built her life on certainty. A renowned neurosurgeon accustomed to achieving the impossible, she is always the one with the answers—until a devastating accident leaves her unable to move her legs and facing a future no one can predict. Then she meets Nora Mercer, a neurological physiotherapist who offers neither pity nor false promises. Instead, she challenges Lexie to confront everything she has lost—and discover what might still be possible. As rehabilitation tests Lexie’s strength, independence, and sense of self, the boundaries between patient and therapist begin to shift, and an unexpected connection grows between them. Because some wounds cannot simply be repaired. Some rules no longer fit. And sometimes, rebuilding a life means finding the courage to imagine one you never planned. Beyond the Rules is a moving story of recovery, identity, resilience, and unexpected love.
