Biodiversity Conservation and International Co-operation

For reasons of economic recovery, US President Donald TRUMP decided on 1 June 2017 to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, which was concluded on 12 December 2015 at the end of the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21). However, he has stated that he is prepared to negotiate another agreement. This is a glimmer of hope! On the other hand, French President Emmanuel MACRON has described it as a mistake for the future of the planet. The determination to press ahead in tackling climate challenges was reaffirmed at COP22 in Marrakesh, which was intended to be a 'COP of action' and an 'African COP'. The COP process will certainly continue on its path for the good of the planet and the well-being of its people. It is the topicality and relevance of its subject matter that make this book a collection of reflections and debates on legal issues and international cooperation in the fight against global warming and the conservation of biodiversity, illustrated by an example of an action project that reflects the global awareness of the need to take action to achieve the SDGs: to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
