Bol In view of the environmental problems currently faced in relation to the disposal of organic and industrial waste, this book aims to review the concepts and approaches related to the themes of development, territory/region and technological innovation, and their relationship with technical and scientific knowledge. Tests on biogas production from the reuse of household organic waste and heavy phase glycerine (a by-product of biodiesel production) were carried out at the URI laboratories on the Santo Ângelo Campus using a prototype biodigester based on waste. The application was carried out on a larger scale than previously performed in the laboratory, using manure from pig farming. After analysing the biogas generated from both organic waste and pig manure, it was found that the processes used were satisfactory. The results showed that the waste generated has qualities that make it suitable for use as a biofertiliser.
