Biological reactions following wrapping of intracranial aneurysms: Retrospective analysis

The diagnosis of 'intracranial aneurysm' is being made more and more frequently thanks to modern technological advances in medicine. This progress has led to an increase in therapeutic interventions. The primary goal in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms is to eliminate them from the blood circulation. Classic methods such as microsurgical clipping or endovascular embolisation are used for this purpose. However, if complete elimination from the circulation is not possible, there is the option of enveloping the aneurysm or its remnants from the outside - known as wrapping. The purpose of this method is to strengthen the aneurysm wall from the outside by triggering an inflammatory connective tissue reaction to the materials applied (e.g. cotton). This work examines the postoperative course of the patients and the formation of foreign tissue reactions caused by the material introduced.
