Birds of Somalia

This book provides an avifauna of Somalia, a little-known but important area for birds. There are seven endemic species in Somalia, and a total of 650 species have been recorded. The book includes over 650 maps that show the distribution of each species. Each map is accompanied by a brief account of the preferred habitat, relative abundance, migration, breeding season, and clutch size of all species.The ornithological content of the book is supplemented by a series of supporting chapters, written by authorities in the field, that describe the soils and vegetation of Somalia; review the history of ornithology and ornithologists in the country; outline the geology; and provide an up-to-date perspective of the state of bird and habitat conservation and the issues involved.
